I have a lot of oversized clothes that I don't wear anymore. I'm thinking about just trashing them. I heard those clothes bins on the street are for-profit instead of non-profit.

What should I do?

Choose a charity and donate them or call a homeless shelter and ask if they can take them.

Donate them.
Why add perfectly wearable (by others) clothing to a landfill?

Don't go to the clothes bins ... go to an actual thrift store that you can verify is an actual non-profit organization. Get a receipt for your tax records.

Find a homeless shelter, or a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence. Give them away on Freecycle. Don't waste resources by throwing them away.

take them to goodwill or the salvation army and don't bother with a receipt because the irs now says you have to have so much in those clothes or have so many number of receipts before they benefit your taxes . Good luck .

Salvation Army is a good, non-profit organization. Goodwill has had a lot of bad press in the past few years for being a kind of sleazy organization.

Get the receipt, let your accountant or Turbo Tax figure out if you donated enough to make a difference in the bottom line.

Actually, what matters is if you itemize. The amount and/or the number or receipts is irrelevant.

I usually just give the clothes away on craigslist...not worried about the tax deduction. I've been giving clothes away the whole time I've been losing weight and people seemed really grateful to get them, especially the larger sizes which were harder to find.

The IRS says no such thing.
