In a business environment, it is very embarassing to get ugly dark stains in my clothes when I happen to sweat a little in the summer. In Europe where there is mostly no air conditioning, I would like to know beforehand what clothes are safe to wear, and which are at risk of displaying those horrible sweat stains.
I recently bought 2 expensive blouses made from a light natural cotton, because I knew they would feel nice and cool on the skin and would be perfect for hot days. Just to find that they get dark when touched by the tinyest bit of sweat. My office does not have air conditioning. Go figure...
Can you help me: which fabrics do not change color when moist?
Do any of you test for this before buying, how to do this unobtrusively?
Rayon, polyester, and chiffon will possibly hide sweat stains, but they're not the most wonderfully comfy fabrics to wear in the summer. A dark colored shirt would probably most effectively hide sweat, as well. Pastels and greys show sweat stains more.
You can also get sweat guards to put in your armpits of your shirts. And a dusting of a powder like Gold Bond might be helpful, as well.
Or switch to the crystal deodorant. It doesn't leave yellow stains on shirts like aluminum deodorants. Also, use Gold Bond as mentioned above.
