those purses are exposing women of all kind to be cheesy and trammpy.
definition of cheesy: kardashian, snooki, real housewives of any city, lady gaga, any lady at nightclub wearing cheesy dresses.
the other day i saw a extremely rich-lady-wannabe(wearing a cheap giant ring, large sunglasses with those ugly sparkles, leopard pants) carrying one of those purses and she has two kids under 7 years old present with her. that lady is not setting a good example for her children if she continues to dress like that.
a fine quality woman should wear jeans, tennis shoes, baseball cap, and carry a cheap but good lookin purse.
A fine quality man would not care, nor tell his lady how she should dress or what to buy.
To me, they're like the new Coach bags....I don't like them, in particular.
^^^ Yes, where I used to work first it was Coach bags, then MK. They were just the "in" thing, at least in Miami. I had moved from another city, so didn't have one and I didn't want to spend the money to get one. I always think it's funny when I see a group of women and they all have the same bag. But to each her own.

Same.
Michael Kors is the "new" American designer. Seems every woman on the street has one of his purses. I don't find them particularly attractive, they are rather plain. I do have one of his trench coats though, which is nice, but fits a little big. I wonder if Project Runway boosted his sales. I'd never even heard of him until that show premiered.
Him and Tory Burch... There used to be a line out the door at the Tory Burch shop in my city. I never understood it, but I'd assume the line was mostly Asian tourists trying to get their designer duds for cheap.

Yep...and I tend to get turned off to a brand when I see everyone with one....it reminds me of those Coach "C" logo bags that were EVERYWHERE years ago. I had one before they became super popular and once they did, I sold it on e-bay because I was so sick of seeing them.
The only brand I will never get tired of seeing is Chanel, but of course, you don't see as many people carrying those due to the price.

Well, for those who want to follow the trend (nothing wrong with that): Michael Kors has been become uncool. It is COACH all over again.
While probably earlier it is supposedly well-made purse and others (clothing, shoes, accessories), now it is synonymous with clueless pretentious had-been. Especially since nowadays everybody have them and the brand is so saturated. After all they started opening so many factory outlets that sell outlet exclusive merchandise. Just like Coach.
I always advise my clients that if they want to buy luxury middle-class handbags, merchandise and whatnot that are trendy, pick the brand / designer that have been trendy for a while yet maintain their exclusivity OR buy the cheaper line of luxury designers. For example: Tory Burch and Kate Spade for female, Ted Baker and Jack Spade for male. And maybe MJ line of Marc Jacobs although the line is to be discontinued. The last thing I want to see is people tossing perfectly good purses because they are no longer IN since every hoochie mamas and trailer trashes carry them.

But what does the handbag have to do with it? The MK bags, as well as others in that price range, are mostly very plain. They have a few prints in subdued colors. There's nothing cheesy about them. It sounds like you're objecting to the clothing choices of people whose one tasteful choice is the handbag. What about all the businesswomen who use those bags? It's not the bags that are cheesy.

Military post exchanges are also bursting with them (tax-free), so they become the default accessory to jeans and a PT T-shirt.
"Name" bags hold no appeal. They're all dime-a-dozen and ho-hum, relying on a label for cache.
