I know this is regularly done in a podiatrist's office, but has anyone bought like a dremel tool and just done this at home? It seems simple enough. I've tried those cheapies you find at Walmart (battery operated nail shapers) but it just doesn't pack much of a punch in really getting rid of extra thick toe nail. They make these for pets, I think? I'm just wondering if anyone's tried it or where I could find the tool I really need?

I just use a regular emory board...the cardboard kind, not the metal files. Then, use a buffer to smooth! Any kind of drill bit sort of thing is likely to heat the nail to the point of damage.

I have been using a dremel tool to trim my toenails for several years, and can heartily recommend this practice. Why this isn't the norm I don't know.

Hey Wutitiz....
Thanks for your input! May I ask...what kind of dremel you use? Is it just a regular dremel kit like one might buy at Home Depot.....or something more specific, perhaps from a beauty supply store like a nail tech would use to grind down your real nail before applying artificial nails?
