While on long flights (4+ hours), dry skin bothers me a lot and I always carry a small container of lotion with me. Does anyone else here do the same ?
I don't use the flight provided lotion because it has too much ester and feels uncomfortable.
My skin is not dry to begin with, so I am not bothered on flights.
What I DO have to do is drink practically constantly. My throat gets sooooo dry.
That too sometimes, but its dry skin which annoys me the most. I have the constant itching sensation and after like 12 hours in flight, my skin has this weird smell.

That rather...ah...odd. Stay hydrated and take a shower when you land.
"Flight provided"???? What airline gives you lotion? They barely give you water!
That's been my experience. I don't fly anymore. The last time, the "stewardess" passed out tiny packs of crackers (1 pack of 2 crackers per person). I was starved. That was after 6 hours flying, and having breakfast at 4:30 a.m. When she came by again, I asked for another pack of crackers. "Didn't you eat breakfast" ??? she barked! She was the witch from hell, and the rest of the trip, I worried about possible problems with the plane, and having to rely on her for support if we needed her. Lotion? ..... never had the luxury of getting that.

On transcontinental flights, they usually provide you with a cosmetic kit. At least that's my experience from the airlines I typically fly.
Spoiler
When I got lucky and was upgraded to first class from Mumbai to NYC during summer of 2013, they also provided me with a tank and night pants as sleepwear

Flying within America sucks, period. The stewardess are underpaid and treated very badly by our money hungry cost cutting airline companies. Consideration for hospitality is becoming a thing of the past.

Yes, hand cream and lotion. I usually bring my own stash. I'm a fan of Aveda Rosemary and Mint lotion. Also Jergen's 95 % natural lotion with agave and jojoba oil in it. A nice hand massage for good chi.
