On another part of this site, I've read a few statements from women saying they dislike men with very thick necks (like as wide as a head). That doesn't surprise me. It wouldn't surprise me if long, skinny necks are also scorned.

What are the opinions of women here? Where do you draw the line? For example, Henry Rollins has a good face - does his neck detract?

Edit: be careful about posting copyrighted images.

I think it's subjective, of course, but in general proportional is preferred. Henry Rollins seems proportional, but I think what you're describing is more of an NFL/weightlifter look, which some women like and some don't.

I don't like the thick neck look. Prefer proportional, but would still prefer scrawny over too thick.... JMO

Admittedly it's something I've never thought about.

Thick necks? Not something that bothers me.

Very long necks... which aren't very common... would be more something that I'd notice, and find unusual.

If I did have to make a choice between the wide neck or the turkey neck, I'd choose the wide neck.

Dont like a thick neck that looks like a face was stuck on it! To each their own.

My old BF was in great shape - we're talking beefy, here. The one thing I noticed though, was he was getting a bit of a "gobbler" neck. He was one of these Scottish guys with a fat head, sexy bald on top, and had a good sized neck (and arms too). The dope left me for some woman (that's an interesting story in and of itself) but, boy - did I dodge a bullet! The poor thing. She can have him.

I found a couple pics of him 15 years later. Yikes! No neck. Just a fat head sitting on (now fat) shoulders. I mean, like, no neck! He looks like Winston Churchill. My gosh if I had to share a bed with that...I'd hang myself!

I honestly never thought about it. The men I have liked just had regular necks. But one I did think of is some people that have their necks and chins look like they run together, but the people I have seen with it weren't fat, or thick. They were little.

But the pic Wmsn4Life posted above, yes. That's too thick, and a bit off-putting. But really scrawny+long necks aren't cute either. It's mainly a case of, "there's a middle ground between 2 extremes."

Some people from 1 extreme to the other in some things. Someone says they don't like thick necks, people get offended and joke about how they want a scrawny neck.
