Thought it would be good to get some opinions. I don't really know how good my fashion sense is. I know what I think looks good, but I'm pretty clueless about what women think looks good.
Most women don't notice men's everyday shoes unless they're extraordinarily ugly (like sandals with socks), dirty, or falling apart. At a formal event I will notice an attractive man's dress shoes. Shiny, high-quality leather shoes are just the cherry on top of a nice suit and tie.
OP I don't care for the shoes you posted in black or brown, but I do like them in chocolate nubuck and sand nubuck if you're outdoorsy and dress accordingly. So it depends on your personality, your build, your clothes, and your activities. I don't think they work if you have an office job and wear business casual. You can't go wrong with loafers or boat shoes. Chucks are good for artistic/creative types. I also like the rugged, masculine look of a cowboy boot.
Really....you are going to notice the brand of a tennis shoe/sneaker/trainer? I agree that tennies go with causal clothing....but as long as they aren't falling apart, brand really doesn't matter. Do Chuck Taylor's count?
I notice (positively) when someone wears a sports shoe (worn only with sportswear) that is made in the USA. New Balance, for example, still sells some (not many) that are made in this country, and I recognize which models those are.
OP: I am a guy but I used to work with a woman who told me the first thing she noticed about a guy was his shoes.
I can definitely say the first thing I notice about a woman is definitely not her shoes. And not the second, third or fourth thing for that matter.
