Why do men do this? Surely they don't think they are fooling anybody? Bald is in- even men with hair now shave their heads. Or get a good wig if it is that important. but for heaven's sake--forget the comb over.

I have one motto regarding my hair receding and my hair turning gray. Provide no resistance! I'm letting it all happen in all its gray and bald glory.

My dad is literally renowned for his comb-over...in our small community, it's kind of his trademark. He's got a good sense of humor, doesn't take himself too seriously, and jokes about it, so there's a bit of self-awareness. He knows it's not fooling anybody. But it makes him feel better, and that's good enough for him. To each, his own.

It's a new trend. Dude in high school are shaving the tops of their heads so they can "comb over"

Those in the link are extreme, but my FIL was one if those who didn't realize he had one.

A couple years ago at Thanksgiving we were all sitting around the table talking and someone brought up combovers. No idea why. We weren't even talking about him ... UNTIL ... He said, "Well, you guys have to promise to tell me if I ever get like that."

We all paused and looked at each other, then burst out laughing. His oldest son said, "Um dad, you ARE like that!" He couldn't believe it. He kept insisting that he was just parting his hair the same way he always did. Of course, with his hair thinning on top, it was ... A combover.

By Christmas, the combover was gone.

Have a group of attorneys in our area who have commercials going and cant believe the one has the most gawd awful comb over ever. Not a chunck of hair but strands just laid over. Would think he could afford a toupe or just go bald.

Men should wake up and smell the coffee. A comb over or a toupee scream, I am insecure. No woman is attracted to an insecure male....except the really needy, desperate ones.

I don't think at first they realize they are doing it. As soon as I noticed my husband was doing it, I called him on it. He stopped it immediately.

I get it, it is denial. I see my own hair thinning at my crown, it saddens me. Actually scares me!
