I think if your skin is prone to stretch marks, then that's that.
I am bothered by them as well. Even though my chest grew as slowly as possible, I still got them and they are so deep. They are also on my inner thighs even though I've never been overweight. For whatever reason, the ones on my hips are barely noticeable.
I told my husband I'll be pretty disappointed when I get pregnant because my stomach is basically the only part of my body I don't have an issue with and it'll be covered in stretch marks. Yeah, I'm allowed to be vain about one thing.
Do you guys know what makes your skin prone to the stretch marks? I know I have dry skin, but I wouldn't say it's sensitive. I'm not pale either. My mother has stretch marks, but only mine are 5x worse. I fluctuate with my weight a few pounds here and there, but nothing drastic.
Pale skin doesn't cause stretch marks, it just makes them more visible when they are new. Old stretch marks fade to a silvery white. Elasticity of dermal tissue contributes to stretch marks, and that's genetically predisposed.

I've had them since pre-kids. I don't love them, but I don't think about them much. I have noticed that stretch marks aren't as noticeable on tan skin. A little self-tanner or even tinted lotions make mine less noticeable.
They used to bother me many years ago. After five babies, weight loss body changes, etc., nah, don't really care about them. They've actually faded so much that it's a non-issue.
When I was having my daughter, I used Cocoa Butter lotion every day. It worked - I didn't get any stretch marks.
I did, too. Not to prevent stretch marks, but because Palmer's is the best moisturizing bang for the buck, and smells good, to boot.
Good thing I didn't use it thinking it would prevent stretch marks; I'd have been disappointed. There are a lot of factors that play into whether or not one gets stretch marks. Topical application of products isn't actually one of them.
