I was just reading an article in The Week magazine, where in Zimbabwe they have a Mister Ugly contest with a $500 prize. The dethroned champion of Zimbabwe's annual contenst bitterly protested, losing his crown to a man that he insists is "too handsome".

Judges crowned Mison Sere, 42, citing his missing teeth and gallery of grotesque facial expressions.

But reigning champ William Masvinu, and his supporters rushed the judges, claiming Sere's bad teeth did not make him sufficiently repulsive. "I am naturally ugly, he is not!", he argued.

I think it's a great idea, with city, state, county and national contests, not just for ugly men but ugly women as well, which would balance out beauty contests. And with the proceeds, get some plastic surgery?

How about you?

I think it is the worst idea I've ever heard of.

I would never suggest anyone get plastic surgery nor participate in a contest which is obviously held to degrade as many people as possible all at the same time.

You can well believe, if there were sizeable enough cash prizes, or other prizes, being offered, any number would compete in these contests!

And not all people are embarrassed about being ugly! I'm not! But I don't think I'm ugly enough to win a prize! But I'm working on it!
