I like jeans with a little bit of stretch, especially if I am wearing skinny/straight leg because I have bony hips and big calves. I do NOT like "jeggings."
Decided to go shopping for jeans the other day and everywhere I went, the bluejeans were all made in tight, stretchy fabric that didn't even mildly resemble the denim I know and love! I usually buy Lucky brand but even the ones I found at Macy's were more like leggings than actual jeans. I went to several stores and even tried on some of these stretchy "jeans", which will probably keep me from ever enjoying another regular meal again Is this trend going to permanently replace regular denim? If so, I have bought my very last pair. It will be skirts from now on. Someone please tell me this was just a really bad day of shopping and not the death of denim!
Though retailers and designers are still cranking out the "skinny jeans", bell-bottoms are also being sold now, in denim and corduroy. Macy's, btw, has kind of gone off the deep end with their decision to focus almost exclusively on the youth market and very trendy stuff. But you can find something closer to old-fashioned denim/heavier weight jeans and slightly more conventional cuts at their online shopping sites.
Somebody, somewhere, must be selling old-fashioned work jeans, you'd think. But who? Where? I've never seen a True Value Hardware store that sells clothing, btw. It must depend on location.
Where to find plain old fashioned denim jeans (at least, around here):
Costco
Sam's Club
Walmart
Tractor Supply
Big R stores
Big Bear Sports
Scheels
Cabela's
I got a pair of Red Head jeans at Bass Pro. Very comfortable. But since I retired I find myself wearing Red Head cargo pants, also from Bass Pro. Also very comfortable.
Murdoch's, Tractor Supply, True Value Hardware all carry real Levis and jeans. Can even find some good jean overalls.
Farm supplies too. Find places selling jeans intended for *work* not being fashionable. Remember to buy slightly loose if they aren't prewashed because they will shrink a little. The non stretch ones are warmer too.
I've been threatening my wife I'm gonna lose some weight and start wearing the acid wash guess jeans from the 80's I had when we first started dating.
