What is you concern with Halah? Are you talking about food or just in general. Re the hot weather l. I get it. I personally have worn them a times when in Morocco, did not find it comfortable because you wear clothes under too. They do not exclusively where black ones. Also they tend to have a lot more colour and decorations and jewels on them in Morocco. Not a fan, but I could careless about what other people choose to wear as long as it is a choice.
Halal is considered cruel
Decades ago slaughter of animals was regulated to include stunning - so the animal is basically unconscious when slaughtered
Halal demands they are slaughtered by having their throats slit while pointing to Mecca, no stunning
Looks pretty catchy, doesn't it? I've read about how this type of thing has really caught on the last few years in the Middle East. They have their own designers over there doing this. There have been bright colors, too.
And let's face it; women look elegant in long skirts, if they're designed well.
Too bad the women in Germany didn't adopt those fashions when they went out partying on New Year's Eve.
Might have saved some of them a bit of inter-cultural hassle with their new neighbors.
It wouldn't have saved them at all. A friend of mine, when travelling through Asia, lost her luggage in a plane crash. (She wasn't in the plane, it was being sent to her.) She had to buy local clothes for the rest of her trip from Nepal through the Near East (back before all the trouble there), to Europe. Local clothes meant traditional Tibetan dress, which is very Victorian: high collar, long sleeves, long skirt with apron. On her way through Afghanistan and Iran, men grabbed at her, anyway. She finally started punching them, and that took care of the problem. Word got around that she fights back, so they left her alone.
They grab because of the white faces and their assumptions about women with those faces. It has nothing to do with the clothing.

I was being sarcastic. To me that style of dress represents a culture that forces women to adhere or suffer dire consequences.
I have choices. Long skirt, short skirt, no skirt. Cheap or Dolce.
