Great, puffle, that excludes me using it then....huh.
Can't say I have small pores, and I do have some deep lines in places.
I have heard that before, that the "dust" settles into "crevices" like lines and such.
However, I am still so tempted to try out Mary Kay's new Mineral Foundation.......much hype about it going on.

I really can't see the difference of using mineral powder no matter whose name is on it...drier and more mature skin doesn't mix well with any powder except blush but if you can get your money back if you aren't pleased with it, try it!

Now my mother, who is solidly in her mid to late 50s, uses mineral makeup & it looks fine, but I will grant you she has aged fairly well (knock on wood that carries over to me).

I have dry, sensitive, fair, reddish skin. Bare Escentuals looked terrible on me but I like Jane Iredale's mineral make up and I *think* it looks fine on me.

Bare Minerals work well for me if I have exfoliated well and am not too dry. I keep Estee Lauder liquid on hand for days when I am flakey, etc.. However, THe colors are not right for me. The fairly light makes me a little pale, the medium is too dark and the light matches but is too yellow unless I use self tanner. I am brunette, with light olive skin. My friend who is blonde and more ivory toned said the exact same thing. We both mix the fairly light and the light, which is time consuming . Any suggestions on formulas that are similar to bare minerals but have a light neutral color ?

I recently started using Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics - Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics - The Skin Care Makeup - All Natural Micronized Minerals.
So far so good. I really like the powder foundation which is a great match for my skin tone. I used Chantecaille for many years but wanted to try something different (& less expensive) and was steered in this direction by an esthetician.

so not girlified....
I've never been a fan of make-up. It's expensive, time consuming, and I feel like if you can't like me for what I look like naturally, then you're not worth my time. In saying that, I am open minded, and would like to try new things. I've worn full make up once in my life, and then went to a nightclub, and when I left, it looked like my skin was running...lol.
The thing that gets me the most is wearing make-up and having people kissing all over you. How can you be intimate with someone knowing you have all that stuff on your face? Do the people who have bare minerals or whatever get complaints about that...or do men just simply not care about tasting powder?
Also, what is foundation? What does it do, as opposed to all the other make-up out there that I don't know the name of. Is foundation enough? What about concealer, or whatever...what does that do? I'm guessing it conceals stuff, but if you have a "foundation" then you don't need anything else right? Make-up is confusing and scary...lol. I have no idea about any of it.

LOL - sorry - but I couldn't help but giggle about this. I've never had a guy complain about "tasting powder" - I mean I can't recall anyone really licking my face, kwim? I wouldn't really about this unless your face is absolutely caked in makeup.
As far as foundation, I tend to think of foundation as something heavier - more coverage - just my take (which may not be accurate).
I use moisturizer, a bit of concealer on my cheeks and other spots where I have some slight redness and then top that with a powder foundation. It's pretty light coverage but enough to cover up uneven spots.
HTH!

Wow, Corruption! So much to teach in such a limited time frame! LOL
I use concealer to neutralize the dark circles under my eyes and to even out my skin tone - you know, those little patches of redness or sun spots we all get. Then I apply a foundation over that and then a powder to set the foundation. Then, since I have basically jut a face that appears as though I have flawless one-colored skin, I use a blush to add in some color. Then I do the eyeshadows, eye pencil, mascara and brush my brows. However, all of this looks unbalanced without some form of lip color.
That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

I didn't have very good luck with the mineral makeup. I tried the Jane Iredale and Bare Escentuals brands. Spent a lot of money buying all the correct powders for my skin tone and special brushes to make it work right. Both gave me a rash and irritated my skin. I've decided I'm sticking with my Lancome.
