Well, that's comforting. Lol. I was just throwing out a number, honestly. I wasn't sure exactly how many they were allowed. My apologies for not looking it up before posting.
The fact that it is so alluring and oddly intriguing makes me wonder if this will influence the styles of American women in the near future.
Hey, I've got unruly hair that's a crap shoot as to how it will look on a given day. I could have it styled and just sit there and it will start sticking out in different directions of its own accord. I've looked at the Muslim women in the office and on the street and thought how simple it would be to just wind a scarf over the whole mess and go about my day!

Actually lets face it a lot of people when having a bad hair day would gladly wear a hat, up do or scarf to help kept that situation under control !
We saw someone wearing a hijab ( which I didnt quite notice was a hijab because she had a huge sun hat OVER it) along with a VERY fitted spandex top. It was the weirdest get up and only when someone explained that it was a hijab did it occur to me that that's what the bizarre outfit was. So yes, I think it's strange to be modest and perhaps covered but very revealing.
very contradictory.
I used to live near a very ethnically diverse community known for its music scene and saw some really interesting combinations of the hijab with other clothes. Women would wear studded jeans, facial piercings, trainers, loud pink belts, bracelets, exciting shirts, even one lady wearing a patched leather jacket. Along with a hijab! The clothes they wore were not physically revealing or titillating though and they wouldn't wear hotpants or crop tops, anything like that, or have revealing tattoos/excessive piercings.

Yes, I saw many different attitudes to woman's clothing, even sometimes on the same street, ie. full black veils (even eyes covered) and then a muslim wearing clothing you could almost call punk-esque. Some would be halfway and have pink or green muslim clothing and hijab. I was like wow! That's amazing. But also confusing??
What do you think of women who wear hijab on their head, but with clothing that is a lot more provocative and western/liberated?
I thought that the hijab was designed to cover the head for modesty's sake. In that case I would expect the rest of the clothing to be like a nun, or else Little House on the Prairie. It's not exactly Lady Gaga, but some of the attire is pretty alluring and titillating.
They are trying to lawyer their faith and culture by following the letter of their law while looking for loopholes
I've heard the hair is sacred reasoning before as reasoning. I haven't found exactly sound proof (most is directed towards modesty and virginity) but it wouldn't shock me in the least if they do view hair as sacred and something that shouldn't be "flaunted" like in western society rather than Middle Eastern society.
I think that is more Orthodox Judaism where the woman will wear a fashion wig in public and only allow re her husband the pleasure of her natural hair.
