There is a HUGE, MASSIVE, WIDE range of options between that dress (which frankly belongs on a street corner) and Amish. Even the blue dress she's pictured in somewhere upthread is MUCH more appropriate than the dress she wore to the wedding, and there certainly nothing Amish about it.
There are plenty of commenters in this thread saying that dress is never appropriate. I don't see anything wrong with the dress at all, even at a wedding. It's definitely on the sexier side, but it's not a hooker outfit like you are saying. It's a dress for a woman who is having a nice time out.

Do you think it's an appropriate dress for Easter Sunday Mass? For Grandma's funeral? For a job interview?
If the answer is no, why exactly is that?
If the answer is yes, then I'm afraid there's no point to continuing the conversation because there's clearly a completely differing view of what's appropriate and what isn't.

For some of these dudes (note that it's primarily dudes) the definition of "appropriate" is "gives me a boner." Then they accuse us all of being jealous old hags. Yes, the woman has a great body. Still doesn't make a tight, short, flesh-colored dress suitable attire for a wedding. Her body would look just as great in a knee-length wrap dress.

Because it's attention drawing. On someone else's day. The talk and attention shouldn't be about you. It would be just as inappropriate to wear something more covered but noticeably outlandish or garish.

This is why. If you are going to a club, the very objective may be to give men a boner, at a wedding, the objective is to honor the bride and groom, not to give all the men boners.

So, let's hear the verdict from the dress police. Would one more inch on the skirt have fixed this? Maybe a half inch of slack in the waist? A different color? A bra? A sweater?
Yes.
Or leave off the sweater, so you can still see max flesh from the horn section.
I think far too many in this thread define "appropriate" as "ankle-length." Whatever, I don't think the dress is inappropriate, I've seen plenty of similar dresses at weddings or shorter or tighter dresses. Saying that it is inappropriate because it is "attention drawing" is asinine - that could mean pretty much anything. A full-length dress could be "attention drawing." And I don't find her to be attractive, so I'm simply looking at the dress itself. Regardless of what you think of the dress, I'm more interested in the fact that she is getting exactly what she wants - media attention.
