This.

& no one has mentioned it, but Cargo shorts are the best way to carry a set of keys, a cell phone, a large wallet and an item or two that your kid might have handed to you... without:

- looking like an idiot with all the junk in your hands.
- having lots of goofy looking &/or uncomfortable bulges in one's short pockets....or
- carrying a murse.

Cargo pants are the best invention since Dr. Pepper, Microwave Ovens & the auto-populate function with email addresses.

LOL - yep, we can carry all that stuff and more.

Nothing looks goofier than a hipster in "skinny" shorts with a wallet, cell phone, vape gadget, and keys making the pockets bulge like the cheeks of a chipmunk.

Sam's Club sells cargo shorts, in multiple varieties. I got some of mine there. If you're not a warehouse club kind of guy, it is probably quite reasonable that you wouldn't be interested in cargo shorts. They're very mainstream, as evidenced by who sells them.

I agree with that.

Personally, I usually wear flat front chino shorts. I have 2 pairs of hiking shorts that are sort of like cargo shorts though. They have space for a little extra "stuff" which is OK. I wouldn't wear them out to dinner.

I do see cargo shorts quite often. They seem to look better on some guys than others, me not being one of them.

Here in Southern Cal I wear shorts in most of my off-work time about 8 months out of the year. I'm 6'1" and weigh less than 170 lb, so shorts tend to fit or look better than on guys that carry around a lot of belly weight.

I have a couple pair of Wrangler Outdoor shorts, which have lots of pockets, but I am not sure if they are "hiking" shorts or "cargo" shorts. They are not heavy denim or cotton, but instead a light synthetic fabric. They are about knee length, and not excessively baggy. I wear them with or without a belt, doesn't really matter because it is usually with an un-tucked polo shirt.

I don't normally wear shorts, but if I do wear cargos then I really don't give a care what others think about them. I'm either working or hauling a pack and bunch of stuff in the woods somewhere. Maybe it's a man v woman thing but I don't give a crap whether they make my butt look big when I'm digging out a stump or hauling 40 pounds in the back country.
