I am indifferent. And the shorts in those pix look better than skinny-jeans or pants hanging down off the guy's butt showing his underwear.

I do prefer long pants though.

Cargo pants are the best invention since Dr. Pepper, Microwave Ovens & the auto-populate function with email addresses.

My husband's take both from wearing cargo pants and shorts as civvies, and wearing multi-pocket fatigues in
Iraq: "Once you hit the six-pocket mark, you ARE effectively a purse." It's pretty nice. When he wears cargo shorts, I don't even have to carry a purse, myself.

Jeezus H.

Now cargo shorts are a fashion faux pas?

I normally don't wear shorts in public even in hot weather, but when I vacation overseas I love cargo shorts because of all the extra pockets.

I could care less what these fashion 'experts' think are out or in. I'm going to continue happily wearing my cargo shorts.

God NO not at all, not ever.

No to cargo shorts and jorts.

Nothing says "I'm a loser!" worse than those two things.

...and nothing says "I'm shallow and superficial" better than a statement judging someone's entire lifestyle and personal worth on what type of shorts they're wearing.

I'm a man. Cargo shorts are my mainstay in the summer months. I never wear jeans (way too uncomfortable). Full length chinos in spring and fall, and corduroy pants during winter. That's how I roll because comfort trumps everything else.

I put the cargo shorts away only when mornings dip into the 40s and/or afternoon temps. dip below 60.

Blueherons, can you explain to me why you called me a loser because I wear cargo shorts?

I think cargo shorts look great on my husband, although he wears them with a T-shirt for casual things and wears dressier khaki shorts for going out to dinner and such.

I don't get the big deal about "jorts." My husband never wears them, but my dad does (early 50s.) I think they look cool on him. I don't consider him a "fashionable dresser," but he isn't embarrassing to be around, either. He wears his jean shorts and a nice T-shirt, and I think he looks just fine. Far from what I consider a fashion disaster, particularly for a man his age.
