I disagree. A men with great legs look great in low socks--much better than goofy sock sticking up out of the shoe.

Maybe they look girlie on men with girlie legs?

I wear shorts all the time but I would not be caught dead in a baggy, below my knees pair.

I often carry a few pens, a knife, some assorted tool or tape measure, work gloves, etc. Kind of hard to put all that stuff in some preppy, mid-thigh, pink or plaid fashion shorts that are all the rage with the popped-collar crowd these days.

Yep, I'm shallow and superficial and wear it proudly.

When you can find your fashion choices at Costco, it is time to move on.

See, to me, that's just too much exposed leg, and it seems womanish. Just a me thing.

It also might be that I usually see them on a certain variety of runner's build type guys with long, spindly legs, which just doesn't do it for me. The worst is guys with the aforementioned long, slender legs wearing the footie socks and basketball shorts. It's like spaghetti noodles hanging out of a double-barreled shotgun!

I think this is a big reason I don't have a problem with cargo shorts. I can't stand preppy fashion on men (again, too studied and fussy to be attractive to me), and would prefer somebody who looks like they're about to disappear into the woods and fashion some type of treetop navigation system out of paracord with a hunting knife.

My dad (who's 80) wears chino/bermuda shorts and boat shoes, no socks. My mom maintains that he's always looked good in shorts.

I have more of a preference for the preppy type, I guess, which is why I think a lot of cargo shorts look sloppy on guys.

Denim shorts and low-profile socks cut below the ankle.

Default Useful and a staple

I think cargo shorts are useful to hold everything a purse might hold. They are usually beige and go with just about any color. I'm a casual person and don't mind sharp dressers, but would rather a person be comfortable whenever possible
