Skin aging probably is less genetic than any other external aging.
Anyway, my big fears, just 2:
1) Hair loss (male) - logical enough, and thankfully the 21st century makes it easy to stop most hair loss if noticed swiftly, except for the unlucky men who start losing very early in life
2) Melting face (picture Edith Bunker) - something I noticed and was repulsed by in at least one relative when I was a child, although now I attribute much of that to lifestyle factors and think the problem is only in one side of the family
Losing my hair (I'm female). I notice my hair thinning on top and my part line is wider than before. I was dealing ok with wrinkles and sagging skin, but this is too much.
Take biotin, and highlight your hair. If you have very dark hair and light skin, go with a lighter hair color. Start parting your hair on one side instead of in the middle, and pull some of your hair across your forehead and tuck it behind your ear on the side opposite the part.
Most of my hair fell out because of health issues when I was 35, and those strategies helped disguise it pretty well. Wide hairbands also help, and I had a couple of wigs for occasions that I really cared about...just be sure to sew some little snap combs into the wig to keep it secured on your head.
I'm not afraid of what's already happened - the loss of sexual attractiveness and greatly diminished desire. Of course it's an individual thing and you can attempt to keep these things at bay.
But on the whole, both sexes have much lower hormone levels than in their 30s, there's sun damage, sagging skin, grey/white hair, baldness, and bent posture from weakening bones and muscles. At some point you become nearly invisible to the opposite sex.
It's built into our genetic code to look for signs of youth and good health, after a certain point that's gone and you're just in the "OLD PERSON" category.
Exactly right. When it become unhealthy or even dangerous for the individuals involved to reproduce or disadvantageous for the species as a whole, sexual attraction is designed to diminish, both in terms of attracting and being attracted. It's nature's wisdom. Personally, I think Viagra throws a wrench into the works (as well as into many mature marriages), but whatever. We were not designed to look and act young once when you're old and past it. Helen Fisher's "Anatomy of Love" eloquently explains all this.
Why? As NATURE would have had it, you would both slow down at the same time and just cuddle from there on out, which sounds pretty good to me right about now. But with the advent of Viagra, men will be seeking out more nubile women. Not a good thing, IMHO...

I notice people who do certain kinds of cardio have nice firm faces and flat bellies into old age. I'm thinking joggers, cross-country skiers, swimmers, all of those whole body exercises.
A lot of runners have a good amount of wrinkles due to sun exposure and the face takes a beating by the action of running. Most runners I know don't care if they are wrinkled though.
1. metabolism getting slower than it is now (I'm already overweight and I don't want to end up obese)
2. looking older in my face- I'm 31 and (I know people say this a lot) and like I'm in my early-mid 20s. I have regrets with how I spent my 20s (I feel like I didn't live life, just was always in school and being at home) and I'm trying to make up for lost times now.
That's really it for me. I'm not really afraid of these things since I know with surgery I could fix them anyway lol:
1. breasts sagging/losing shape- get boob job/lift
2. hair thinning- get extensions
3. teeth getting all nasty- spend $$$ getting them fixed
