We just came back from a vacation in Maine and I wore the heck out of a couple of shawls up there - I think I'll definitely be wearing them this winter in Texas.

I have an alpaca shawl that my parents got me years ago from Peru. This baby is WARM and a heavy weave of subtle brown yarns. I'm wearing it right now! Shawls rule.

I need something a bit lighter as it never gets really "cold" around here.

So my choices will have to be a little different.

Anyone have any ideas? The coldest it really gets here in winter is probably the low 60s, very very occasionally the high 50s (except overnight, but I don't expect to be out at that time of night).

IKR? They look really good with jeans. According to Esquire magazine (I know it's for men but it's a great magazine with lots of really interesting articles), this style of boots is DA BOMB this year.

I love my Cole Haan boots! I have some similar Chelsea boots from a couple years ago that have smooth leather and snake print leather in black. They are super comfy.....

Thanks for this color combination. I can pull my old camel jacket out and team it with the lovely Chinese silk patterned shirt I bought off eBay recently.

I finally, after months of stalking, found my Eileen Fisher "Slew" open toe lace up bootie in black. Bloomingdale return. I can die happy now.
