I'm 32, and use a moderate amount of makeup, but my freckles still show.
Yesterday, I went tothat "biggest mall in North America" and couldn't believe how hideous the makeup was on so many late teen/early 20s women. These girls had unblended contouring, half an inch thick one color foundation, eyelashes stuck together in chunks, wtf??? They all looked like bad copies of YouTube videos.
What a shame, they probably would have looked gorgeous without anything, at that age. Boy I'm glad I learned from mom before the internet.
Its a shame as all these girls now look the same.. they all have the same eyebrows and the same pout.. with big hairy spider eyelashes.. I know its a fashion thing but isnt it nice to see the person underneath all that.. thank you Kim Kardashian for not only a big arse but this hideous conture mess.
I'm with you; I don't understand why this clownish makeup is so popular. Although the heavy, caked on style may look all right on some people on television or in magazines, it looks ridiculous in real life. They look like they're wearing masks.
A moderate amount of natural-looking makeup looks best on most women, IMO.
Caked on make up has been used by many for years and well before you tube or the www was even thought of let alone invented.
Some women know how to apply make up and some don't and it has always been like that.
My stepmother looked better without make-up than with it because she never learned to apply it properly. Unfortunately the way she learned at 15 or so is the way she has worn it ever since and that happens to a lot of women.
I haven't noticed it too much around here, except that lately, it IS impossible to find a mascara that's not designed to be worn clumpy, a look that I find absolutely hideous.
It's not just people "not knowing" how to put makeup on, as some are suggesting. The weird clumpy spider leg lashes is a deliberate look, which is a contrived, concerted effort. It's unfortunately not just a byproduct of people not knowing what they're doing, it's actually the look they're purposefully cultivating.
I definitely blame team Kardashian for the whole "fake-looking mask of a face" movement.
Silly false faces and everyone wants to pout.... why? I dont get it at all...I think every young girl now has a photo with a pout..
I know, Dizzy, people doing those stupid pout faces look ridiculous!
I've watched women on YouTube doing their own reviews of makeup items, and they always seem to lay the makeup on really thick - they might as well use a trowel! Thick lines of eyeliner on the upper lashes, with those false eyelashes they could fan themselves with in the hot weather. And those big drawn on eyebrows look silly too.
But then when I look at the comments underneath, people are saying "Hey, you look so pretty".
The made-up look reminds me of the very early 60's, that went with the swept up "petals" hairdo......Then the next decade gave way to the "no make up" hair long and blowing in the wind hippie look. Fads come and go....This too shall pass.
