Panty hose (for men) was a must attending Vikings games in the old Met Stadium.

That's fascinating. And later girls' jeans became de rigeur for boys.

I really think leggings are the new pantyhose. No pantyhose brand on earth makes a woolly winter version, but the leggings people do. And let's be real, nobody would even consider wearing pantyhose only under a tunic-length sweater, but everyone wears leggings that way.

No idea why they got phased out fairly quickly.
Because they're horrible. Pantyhose never fits me right. They either bag around my ankles like elephant skin, or they're too tight and make my legs feel like they're being strangled. I'll echo the sentiments of the other posters that the color is unnatural as well. What is this "nude" hue anyway? It doesn't look like the skin color of any human being I've seen, and certainly not myself. I am fortunate that I don't have too wear them for work. I'm in the medical field, so colorful scrubs are my work gear

Ha ha! I'm old enough to remember that... and girdles! Ugh! Today, I wear skirts/dresses that are well below the knee, so I wear knee highs. Haven't bought pantyhose in many years.
