so i'm going to finally get laser hair removal.. i found a place that i wanted to call but i had a few questions first.
first, looks like everything is priced exceptionally low. is this a red flag? like for example, underarms are only $45, full legs is $150, etc, etc... i remember having a consultation at a dermatologist's office a few years ago and they were going to charge me $300 per session (i never went through with it) but i'm just wondering which is the more accurately priced place. low prices are scaring me away from this place.
second, they are using a "LightSheer Diode Laser" - does anyone know if this a good laser to use?
is there anything else i should ask during my consultation?
That laser works best on light skin, and the effectiveness (how much is permanently removed - and it won't be 100%!) is dependent on the color of your hair.

Thanks, i have very dark hair and pretty light skin (although i tan easily and don't burn). so i guess that will be okay?
Have you tried reading some comments online about the clinic? I would look for both good and bad reviews. There must be some. Go through some forums perhaps? I have to admit that the price sounds a bit too low. Price range for underarms in New York is $80-$160, $45 sounds a bit shady. Legs $250-$550. It looks like you would be getting huge discounts. Why would they give you such big discounts? You should try googling, see what the reviews are. If there are no reviews, that's an alarm that something is wrong.
Diode laser technology is good for for fair to medium skin. I understood that you're not the fairest type so I guess the procedure would be good for you.
I hope that helped you a tiny bit at least. Have a nice day
Your prices are about what I paid 12 years ago, for one session. It takes 3 or 4, if I recall correctly. I am fair, so it only removed the darker hairs I got from years of shaving. They did warn me it did not remove light-colored hair. Now my leg hair is invisible except in certain light angles, so I let it go. I am over-all pleased with it, no more shaving. No one has ever commented or seemed to notice what's left. Or maybe they do, but it has never mattered, when I was single or married. My husband always says "Smooth legs! No stubble!" so I guess its working. I don't say "Yeah but can you see what's left?"
They advised me to do it in winter when I didn't have a tan.
I asked why men don't opt for that to avoid face-shaving and they said they want the option of growing a beard or stubble if occasionally they want it.
Less painful than electrolysis which I am not sure anyone is even doing anymore. Used to do that for eyebrows....ouch!

I do electrolysis haha. I love it. Ive had great results but i want to have a bigger area done so thats why im thinking of laser. Im actually worried about the non permanent nature of laser and i have actually read that laser can INDUCE hair growth for some spots if the hair is too light.
The place im thinking of trying offers both laser and electrolysis so im hoping she will tell me which is best for what i want to do. Maybe she would be willing to do a marathon electrolysis session, but not sure if people over like 60 minute long electrolysis.
It is cheap because you have to keep going there several times. I did it 4x on my underarms and twice the bikini area and don't even see a difference.
really?
well i know it takes several sessions. but when i went for a consult at the dermatologist they were saying 300$ per session for 6 sessions which is obviously MUCH different than $40-$100 per session lol. that's why i was questioning like why is it so much cheaper? is that a red flag that it won't be quality service?
so you haven't seen any difference? ugh maybe i should just try to do electrolysis then.
