I know back in the 1990s the Nautica brand was in its prime, competing with upscale brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger.

It seems that nowadays you don't hear much about Nautica anymore. While I have a few Nautica shirts, nowadays they seem to be competing more with IZOD and Chaps, only priced slightly above those two brands. I didn't seem to notice any difference in quality from my myriad of IZOD shirts.

I was wondering, does anyone think the Nautica brand is still relevant today, or is it considered a dead brand? For what reason did they decide to move downmarket?

The bedding and sleepwear are carried by a department store up here, and that's about all I see anymore. Don't know whatever happened to the clothing lines.

I still see their bedding but never the clothing lines. The clothing seemed expensive for what it was. Didn't seem to be a lot of style or quality there either.

I definitely consider Nautica more of a throwback to the 90s.

I have a pullover from that era I still wear sometimes, lol. 20yrs old and in great condition!

I never see that brand anymore. I think I had some Nautica pillows about ten years ago and that was the last time.

I looked them up online, and I wonder why they would even be in business. Their clothing line is just as preppy as at least 6 other retailers, most with better online presence. If you are going to offer a clothing line, offer something at least somewhat unique.

I see their clothes on Amazon and some high-end malls in Asia. Personally, I like their clothes. I don't know what happened.

Unfortunately, they aren't as high end as they used to be in the 1990s. Nowadays they are just a notch above IZOD and Chaps in price, and priced below Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. I have bought some Nautica shirts that weren't much more expensive than my usual IZOD shirts. I wonder why they decided to move downmarket.
