Hyperbole would make sense if it were rooted in any slight measure of reality. But his sleeves are just fine.

I always wear socks. I don't know how many months or years it's been since I wore shoes without socks on. I do occasional wear plastic sandals around the pool or things like that, but other than that, in terms of going out, it's always shoes for me. Around the house, I wear socks. I don't like bare feet because the tiniest little thing on the floor will always get stepped on and stick to your foot and I just hate that feeling. I also hate sweaty feet and bare feet or sandal feet seem to sweat more from what I've seen/smelled.

I'm just of the opinion that no one really wants to see a man's feet. Many people may be neutral on this one, but I don't think I've ever met anyone who was really in the "pro" camp on this one, like, "Man, I really wish more guys let their feet out where I could see them." Right?

I do the no socks or low-cut socks thing, but very selectively. More formal events, or at the office with meetings with outside folk, no way. Casual day at work, or weekends, yes depending on the season of course. Our church is very casual, so yes in warmer weather. I generally like the feel of less on feet and ankles when it's warmer. And, while I do not shave my legs, I don't need to - I've apparently worn the hair off over the years :-)

It's more of a casual look, though. I would never advise a man to go sockless when he is sitting on a panel like in the links you posted. There's too much emphasis on the ankle and it stands out in a bad way.

It takes a confident man to do it, though, or one who doesn't care about people commenting on their choices.
Yes, it's mostly for looks. And except for when it's really hot outdoors(90F), there's not point. Why people are ashamed to let socks show is beyond me. Don't Carly Simon and Mick Jagger have a song about people who are embarrassed to be seen wearing socks, or any other garment?

It's the style, going for that laid back "I don't care" look, but I think it is rather unpleasant thinking of the sweaty feet on shoe leather and the aromas. Socks just look neater and cleaner.

Some of us don't have "sweaty feet", so socks are simply an optional fashion statement.

Lucky those! This trend also reminds me of the 1980s when they had that show Miami Vice on - Sonny Crockett didn't wear socks either.
