With 1 being "I couldn't care less if I was wearing a burlap sack" to 10 being "I have to have the latest fashion" where would you put yourself?

I would put myself as probably a 7. I'm not like crazy obsessive but I like getting newer fashions and making sure I look good when I can.

As I get older I find I don't shop as much. I never liked shopping anyways...

1.

As I get older, I care less about how I look. As long as I am clean and comfortable, not much else matters.

I'm probably a 5 for myself. That said, I appreciate fashion as art and like to follow fashion trends and new collections. But being plus size, it's difficult to apply them to my own wardrobe.

2. It needs to be comfortable and not a color I hate.

i guess it depends on defining what 'mattering' means. It's not important at all - it's certainly a luxury afforded to me that I can even worry about fashion. That being said, fashion is a big interest of mine (up there with music and interior design). So it's probably a solid 8/10, but it's still not important in the grand scheme of things.

I'd say maybe a 5 or 6. I care about how I present myself and about generally looking put-together and up-to-date, but I'm not a slave to trends or brands, nor am I particularly creative or flamboyant with my choices.

I definitely don't think there always has to be a direct connection to following trends or being a slave to brands to have an interest in fashion and the creativity afforded to how you present yourself. I understand the correlation and that it certainly is true for many people of course.

I think people are afraid to appear shallow by saying they have an interest in fashion, when I don't view it that way at all; I'm surprised at how many people would answer 5 or less while reading a sub-forum largely about fashion. I think simply by choosing to read a fashion & beauty forum it would discredit anyone from selecting a 1 on a scale of 1-10..
