Most men that use bags will use a brief case or back pack. something that is quick to take off, and items stay secure inside, with a zipper. Tote bags are always going to look/feel like I am holding my wifes purse. Man purse, looks like my wifes purse. Fanny packs are weird too, but not as bad when worn above your fanny,
My husband carried something like this: Military-style Operator's Bag - 144576, Military Style Backpacks & Bags at Sportsman's Guide.

He also had, among other things, an oversize laptop bag which would hold a lot of stuff.

Not that I can recall, no. If I ever did, I apparently took something for it, and it went away.

There is absolutely nothing "purse like" about that bag.

This looks like a purse, but I wouldn't say that to the guy carrying it.

Very common in Europe but not as common in America unless it's a bookbag or laptop case but if you like it go for it.

I still want to know why a guy would need to carry a bag. what items does the guy need so bad that he has to carry a bag to carry them? My brother is gay and he does not have a fanny pack or a man purse. His reason? No style to the fanny pack. I don't think that gay men would ever consider them as an option anyway, and this goes from my experience with my brother and his friends, many gay coworkers, and their sense of style that they have. Blue collar guys would not wear them because they know that they have pockets to put the items that they would need. About the only people I see with a fanny pack are those that have no style, strait, middle aged, overweight people both men and women but more so women.

A man can carry a bag if it has a computer or work related items in it. They would have a different bag for the gym. You would be able to tell that these are not purses though. As a pilot I always have my flight bag with me. Has tons of pockets to put things in and has all my pilot stuff. Does not look like a purse and it not carried around as an accessory. The bag goes from the car to the plane and possibly would make a stop into the hangar or other cool places that pilots get to go.

I would love to hear what someone would want to keep in a purse if they were a man. Please tell me what you would place in a purse if you are a man or a women. Of those items do you envision a man needing them?

Well, I have a straight guy friend who carries a tote (usually carries it as a tote, but can wear it crossbody style) ... in it, at minimum, he has his wallet, keys, iPhone 6s Plus, headphones, lip balm, Epi Pen, inhaler, iPad, and usually his steel water bottle. Sometimes he'll carry a phone charger, protein bar, and an umbrella. Way too much for pockets.
