Because some shoe designer is trying to come up with something that hasn't been done before? Because he knows some women will buy anything to look fashionable?

True , but also what comes around goes around, from 1940s and still being worn today.

I like the booties with open toes - obviously not for winter dress. Great for most of California. They look a bit edgier, to me, than having a peep toe shoe. Considering the predominance of leggings and skinny jeans right now, these are the right sort of open toed shoe for that look. Compared to a more traditional sandal.

After trying on a zillion pairs of boots, I found and open toed pair I like that gave off the right look. Not all are done well, but they can add the right urban edge to an outfit.

Had to google, but I kinda like some of them. I think that they probably only look good with just the right outfit, like gladiator sandals, which I also like when they are done right.

I'll have you know those hot pink crocs are almost mandatory summer wear for me. I switch between my pink, lime green and bright yellow ones.

I have a very difficult to fit foot so I don't even try to keep up with shoe fashions. I know there's very little chance that I could find anything to fit in something fashionable so I don't even try.

It's pretty free-ing to not care
