I don't get it. The reason you wear an undershirt is to keep the sweat off your shirt. The wifebeater doesn't do that.

I just don't get the appeal.

Clothes aren't always for practicality. It also makes you feel a certain way. Wifebeaters make them feel macho. Just like a tight shirt may make you feel sexy.

Dudes who walk around in "wife beaters" are pretty much guaranteed to be of the lower class, lower I.Q., and lower educated types.

I drop some pounds again, I'll probably start wearing them. But I'd much rather wear an unbuttoned shirt to go with it.

I believe they're called that because on the reality show "Cops" so many guys that got arrested for domestic violence were wearing them.

The also called "guinea tees" in the NY/NJ area.

Never ever heard these names... thanks doc for info. Im actually sitting her smiling thinking of words we use in Scotland ...a ganzie or jersey was a pullover or jumper.. a semmit or simmit was a vest...I was thinking about their origins and think maybe ganzie and jersey come from Guersey and Jersey.. as in wool from these places but I dont know. however the Semmit or Simmit, I dont have a clue why haha.
