I sometimes buy things that I have seen other people wear that I like. I think most people do this on some level.

I have bought something that resembled something I have seen on another woman. Not so much now, but in the past.

I never wore bracelets or watches--ever. I would rather wear an ankle bracelet.

A couple of years ago I was on an implementation committee with a higher-level colleague. We met every week for about a year. I noticed this colleague would layer bangles or bracelets and I thought it looked really cool. I started to scout around for bracelets and now I'm really mad into them. I buy most of my bracelets from consignment shops. I especially like to layer and mix/match stretchy seed bead bracelets. I'm now taking a bead jewelry class and have made a few of my own.

I love to follow stylish older women like me (62) on Instagram. Sure, they give me ideas about how to put clothing together and to travel outside the style box.

Same. I dont think ive ever asked someone where they got a specific item of clothing. But I always have an eye out for fashionable people and try and dissect what catches my eye about them and I use it to generate ideas. Essentially ways for me to take something I see and like and make it into something that fits within the aesthetic that ive kind of built for myself.

Sometimes I'll even look through catalog photoshoots for brands offering clothing I couldnt justify paying for, simply because they consistently style things well. And then itll give me ideas for re-creating looks using items from cheaper places J. Crew, HM, etc.

Yes, I've seen some contestants on The Voice wearing stuff that I love and would buy if I knew where they got it.

A few years back, I saw a guy on the train wearing a pair of sneakers that I really liked. They were the type of sneakers I had worn in my teens and early 20s and I hadn't seen them in a couple of decades.

I struck up a conversation with him about his shoes, and he told me he really liked them and suggested I get a pair. Shortly afterward, I went out and bought the exact same pair.
