Well, I'd cut back on the diet coke. I'd be more worried about the caffeine than the aspartame, but I could be wrong. Cut back slowly because caffeine withdrawal is hard. But do cut back.

Can you find a job with a casino that offers benefits so you can get medical care?

And, can you find a job that does not require you to drive 76 miles to work?

On your days off, do some walking. Even though you hate the thought, start. Do 15 minutes at first and work up to more. Since you liked the stretches, start off by doing stretches. Wear good walking shoes.

Shoes! What kind of shoes do you wear to work? They should be supportive and have some cushioning.

I have to say I don't think your job is very healthy.

Duluth Trading or Dickie's work pants are sturdy. I also suggest a removable patch, but leather, that you can put around that part of that leg while you're behind the table. Think like a garter, with elastic, pull it on, pull it off. Or elastic and velcro. Any local tailor or alterationist could make you one. You know you need insurance and a doctor, but that's my suggestion in the meantime.

STOP with the diet coke.

Start with unsweetened iced tea. You'll still get the caffeine but without the aspartame.

You are going to have to go cold turkey without the sweet. Within two weeks you'll hate the taste of diet coke.

Gradually start mixing your unsweetened tea with decaffeinated SLOWLY.

Caffeine withdraw can be painful.

STOP COLD TURKEY with the aspartame. It would not surprise me if the FDA banned it in the next several years. You are poisoning your body.

as far as your pants go, cant you fold them up, or at least bring them up the legs while working? Maybe with long socks on?

Dickies does have some double padded pants, but that usually covers the knee area. Maybe pants with a different fabric? or find a sears ,before they clothes down, and stock up on pants? I know I prefer work pants that are designed like jeans, like levis jeans cut, but in black twill fabric. Lee and Dockers also has a version of the twill jean pants.

As for you medical issues, i would bio freeze cream my legs, and try compression socks, or long soccer socks that go up to the knees. Check with your doctor, but these socks do work with nerve pain. I would suggest you get checked out by a endocrinologist to really get a good look as to what is happening to you. Keep up you medical, and change your diet. get alot of sun and try to add a walking program. look up body weight exercises, and move around as it is good for your health.

You do seem like you have many ailments, it could be very well job related. If you are over 50, and suffering so much while working, and trouble doing chores around the house, you could be able to collect Social Security Disability benefits. One of your ailments could meet a listing, where approval is instant. just throwing it out there, it is insurance you have paid for for many years, and you have a right to it.

after reading thru some more, you could have a diabetes check at the local pharmacy for free, if your blood sugar is bad, you got a problem. It sounds like you have a neuropathy similar to diabetes, it could be a pinched nerve so a nerve test should be done. did this happen before or after your new job? there has to be another way you can get testing done, the city should have something out their.

Drinking so much also indicates Diabetes. You can buy a glucose meter at the any drug store for less than $30.00 .

...and neurpathy is often an early symptom of diabetes. With the OP's description of their diet, a vitamin B-12 deficiency is more likely. At a minimum, they should probably be taking a B-12 supplement every day.

I drink diet coke at the bar once in a blue moon if I'm being social and don't feel like drinking alcohol. I drink water otherwise. A quart nalgene bottle and a good 3M filter inline with the water dispenser on my refrigerator.

As for the holes in pants, I think the chaps solution is the way I'd go. Something I can velcro over the pant leg to take all the wear. The OP has tons of spare material from all their destroyed pants. Sewing machine, some elastic, some velcro, and use the same cloth from an old pair of pants so it's pretty much invisible.

I think the OP needs a diagnosis from a physician.

I also think that the need for so much liquid during the day might be indicative of diabetes. Some posters here have offered good insights.

OP, no one can take care of your health but you. Find a way to at least find out if you are diabetic. You need to manage this if that is the case. It can take your eyesight and your kidneys. Don't mess around with this. Even if you have to go to the emergency room to get that diagnosis.
