I need a revamp in my jean wardrobe, but everytime I go looking I am extremely discouraged.
I have short legs with big (muscle) thighs. My waist is a size 8 but typically I have to get a size 10 to fit my legs and then it gaps at the butt! I really would like to get rid of my "old lady" jeans (as my daughter calls them) but cant find any with a good fit.
any suggestion from some people with the same body type?
You need a tailor to take in the waist for the "butt gaps." It's a simple thing to do, and I've had it done to several pants. It makes a huge difference. I have a big butt and when the seat fits, the waist is always too big!
You need to try on lots of jeans to find a good fit. If you have strong legs and butt, I suggest something that sits low with a little flair in the pant leg.
That's what works for me, at least. I also prefer to wear some time of heel to make my legs look a little longer.
I buy my jeans at the Western Wear stores. The majority of their jeans are sold by length and width..like 32X30 or 35X34 etc. I have a small waste compared to my hips and have pretty short legs so this works well for me and the selection is usually very good at the better stores! There are several kinds of Western Wear stores everywhere so it should be easy to find one near where you live.
I too have "bap" (butt gap) issues. Try Gap curvy jeans. They greatly minimize the "bap". Eddie Bauer has jeans in which the waist is one size smaller than the hips. Those just about eliminate the bap. I have some Dockers that work as well. I think they're "ideal fit". All of those listed are under $70. But, if that doesn't work, you'll just have to get them tailored or hope you can find mom jeans with a cute flare.

I have a pair of the Gap curvy as well as victorias secret "v" cut. they work well in the hip/butt/waist area but are still way to tight in the thighs. Seems to be any nice jeans are expected to fit tall thin legs.
It blows my mind because I see all kinds of people with my body shape! I dont mind spending $60-$80 on a "perfect" pair of jeans but my hubby would kill me if I spent any more!
Thanks for everyones help. I am researching a few things now.
Definitely get straight leg, boot cut or slightly flared jeans, to minimize those thighs! Neve get tapered jeans! Something lower rise is more modern--no mor high-waisted pants!
