I was guilty of this for a long time, but now I stick to the Lands End Tugless Tank. It looked good when I was 25, and it looks as good as could be expected now that I'm 69.
I buy a new one every year, because I swim in a mostly heavily cholorinated environment, and it's all the longer the fabric lasts. I generally just reorder the same style.

It has nothing to do with looking better, it has to do with wearing them out.

That seemed unnecessarily rude.

Buying new swimsuits has nothing to do with hoping you look better, its just something that eventually needs replaced. I doubt you've had the same Land End Tugless Tank for the past 45 years. If you have, then you obviously don't use it very often. I swim laps at least twice a week year round. In the summer I also go to the outdoor pool to hang out with friends and family, go to the lake, or I wear it while doing other water activities. After wearing the same suit a couple hundred times, especially in heavily chlorinated water, its going to need replacing. So yes actually, buying a new swim suit does make it look better on me since the old one was faded and worn.

4. Boy shorts? Skirted or other?

Do you shop for one every year? Or do you have a "Go to style" or brand that works for you?

I don't bother shopping any longer. I am at my right weight but I had a C-section. My abdominal area leaves much to be desired. Nothing that can be changed by working out.

So, I have a "go to" swim suit - The classic retro Esther Williams one piece with the low back and sweet heart neckline.

I buy one every year. This time the cherry print. I have Navy, Black, White and Green. . .

They both have skinny straps I can attach, but they don't really do much but cut into my neck. They look quite similar to this:

I really like this style but it wouldn't work for me because I don't have any "perk" in my C cup size and they would droop down unattractively. Those little straps wouldn't be enough to hold the "girls" up lol.

I'll be 43 in July and I'm not overweight, but have had 2 kids. I like a tankini to hide my stomach with a boy short bottom.

What? You never went to the pool or beach at home or on a vacation in 11 years?
