So I don't get why it's unacceptable to wear sneakers without socks. Many people say it will cause foot odor, but many people wear other closed-toe shoes sans socks such as toms brand shoes, Minnetonka moccasins, flats, slippers, etc.

If they are slide on summer sneakers then yes. They are more airy. They too though will eventually stink if not washable.
Leather sneakers smell overtime even with socks.

You can get socks that don't show, so you can have the no-sock look without the odor.

Looks like this thread should tie itself in a knot with only three postings.

1. If your sneakers are washable, don't wear sock if you don't want to....but remember to wash the sneakers.

2. If your sneakers are not washable, buy those socks that don't show and wear those. Same look.

It's a wrap.

Some do wear them, but some actually don't. I've seen people put the shoes on or take the shoes off.

Sneakers are a casual shoe. Wear what feels comfortable to you.

Oder eaters foot powder. Tennis shoes with no socks keeps feet cooler, but you'll need the powder.

I can't imagine wearing any shoes besides sandals without socks. My feet would get hot and sweaty in a matter of minutes, no thank you.

Well, there is the foot odor thing, but there is also the fact that socks protect my pedicure from chipping.
