Anyone here use space bags (vacuum bags) to store clothes? I'm thinking of using them to store t-shirts, a few polo shirts, and hoodies as I have over flow and not a lot of room. What has your experience been with them? I read that if stored for too long they could get damaged as clothes need to breathe. Aside from wrinkles what other damage could be done to the clothing? Or am I over thinking things? The question is what do they mean by a long time months, years? I would hate to do this and my clothes get ruined. Thanks
I use them. You can store a lot of things in them, and then use the vacuum to suck the air out, and then cap the bag. Store right away, because the bags reinflate over time. At least they do for me. It might be that some bags have better seals. If you are ordering them, read reviews.
I like to store these under beds, where, even if they inflate, they can't get too big.
By the way, after the air is sucked out, the bags get dense and heavy. I would not want to pack one of these in a suitcase, unless it was quite small.
I dont care too much for these vac and store bags.
better off getting matching stack-able containers, and fold the clothing in a space saving way. I have the same problem, too many sweaters ,sweat shirts, heavy shirts. I roll everything up, place in a blue recycle bag,pack it a little snugly in the containers. keep moth balls in the closet year around.
if you have a dedicated 2' x 5 ' space, a commercial ZRACK, with double rods might be another good option. It comes on wheels, you can by hangers by bulk, and some garment/suit bags to preserve clothing. check out amazon!
I do not like storing under the bed, because of dust accumulation .

I had some that did this, which made them worthless. But I bought some last year that works, so it must have been a different brand.
Rolling the clothes help avoid some of the wrinkles. Like others, mine deflated. Best use is probably seasonal for blankets.
What is really nice are the Ziploc plastic containers, they have an actual seal for lock in 4 places, love these, and I love very few things: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ziploc-60...Clear/38345584 amazon, home depot, etc. all sell these online. The regular plastic containers tended to get spiders inside.
