So what do you think about today's overall fashion style and themes. I am going to call it being "extra."

I am sure you have hear that old adage from Coco Chanel - before you leave the house, take one thing off to look put together.

It seems like these days, that motto has been switched. Before leaving home, add 2, 3 or 5 more things!

Examples:
Have you noticed this trend of adding more and more and more? What do you think of these looks that are extra bold, extra ornate, extra bedazzled, extra big and over the top?

It's certainly nothing new. Like anything else, it can be tasteful or can be overdone. The trick is knowing how to keep it from going overboard.

Its not a new trend. All your links are 2-3 years old. I can remember people wearing multiple rings, necklaces, and bracelets over 10 years ago when I was in high school, and I'm sure people had already been doing it long before then.

The flower Gucci bag you posted is cute. I don't see how that is "extra" or over the top.

That first set of eyeglasses are extreme. Every era has something like that, and few people buy it. I don't know if your screen showed a selection on the right side of the screen saying displaying popular purchases, but on my screen all of those options were typical sunglasses for fashionable women; large-ish lenses, but very tasteful shapes and colors, a few showing a subdued combination of colors. Those are what is selling, not the over-the-top styles.

Also, the Gucci floral bag you selected has actually been around in slight variations for over 6 years, maybe 10 years. I don't see anything "wild" about that, though I've never liked the painted floral over the logo print. They've been producing others with the same or similar floral over a solid color, as well.

The jewelry stacking is obviously a fashion the industry concocted in order to get people to buy more jewelry.

Keep in mind that Coco herself was a fan of stacking jewelry. In her case, most notably was strands of pearls. But there are also photos of her with stacks of bracelets and bangles. (photos in the spoiler window)

I prefer the classic look, less is more.

My mother has done that all her adult life. It's not new, really.

I march to the beat of my own drum. I like styles, but I'll where what I want and how I want it and don't give much thought to what's "in." I do my thing. Dressing is an extension of one's personality (at any given time of the month for women), LOL. So, with that said, I like to look trendy sometimes. Sometimes I'm more reserved, sometimes, I'm a little more risque, and lots of in between.

One thing I am not, though is good at mixing patterns. Can't seem to bring myself to do that stripe on the top with a floral on the bottom or vice versa.
