For a while due to health problems, I went to the salon for mani pedi. But I got better & that got thrown out of the budget, now I do my own, I only paint my nails if we are going somewhere rt visiting family. I never enjoyed the salons anyhow, I am far too ticklish in my feet.

I used to always do my own full pedicure because I was trained in this years ago. However my lower back does not like it when I bend so I finally started getting them done every 3 weeks. The polish never needs retouching in that amount of time. When I did them myself I used to do them every other week especially since my toes are almost on display here in Florida.

I suppose I should add that I don't bother with base and top coat, though. I gave that up a looooong time ago.

How many of you use those neat little toe separators? They make doing your own so much easier, and I also wear flip flops while doing them. A base coat, two light but full polish coats, and a high gloss top coat works for me. Sit down, relax while you read a magazine or whatever, and feel like the special lady you are.

Always use a rich moisturizing crème on your feet and heels. (One of my favorite moisturizers is the Naked Bee brand, organic in a pump bottle; I get lots of compliments on the sandalwood scent all over.) There are some really nice rich moisturizers on the market that you don't need to spend tons of money on.

I do my own fingernails but my husband does the toes! I hate going for mani-pedis!

Yup - in my 50's - I give myself a pedicure every month, year round. Never chips if I used a double top coat of clear. Still flexible enough but I'm a little messier than I used to be!

Those always make it look so fun, for some reason. I've tried them in the past, but I find it just as easy without them.

Just to clarify my original comment, I'm flexible enough to *reach* my toes, I just can't see well enough to not make a mess without getting closer than that! lol! I'm really nearsighted though.

My old roommate's BFF was a nail tech and showed me how to do a good pedicure when I was in my twenties and I've been doing it ever since.

File the tops of the nails flat, the ends straight across, base coat, color coat, color coat, top coat, it's good for about a month.
