I have short wide feet that are not only wide side to side but up and down. Basically I have cube feet. No local shoe store (even the wide ones) have womens shoes that fit me. I am even willing to spend thousands having them custom made but there are no local shoemakers. I order and order but have to return them time and time again. I have to dress professionally for work and would much rather wear something other than a mens lace up shoe that is 2 inches too long. I have tried on every womens shoe in the greater Puget sound area...any ideas?

Have you looked at Diabetic shoes. I used to buy them for my Mom. They have a deeper/taller toe box. I did a quick check and found this shoe it comes in WW/EE sizes. There were other shoes on the site.

I can relate to having wide feet, and many times I'll see a cute shoe on sale and it will not fit me (too narrow) .
One thing that works for me is to get a shoe in a half size larger if it doesn't come in a wide width. Also, I usually have to buy leather as opposed to a man made material as leather stretches some naturally. Clarks usually fit me well and last (and I am tough on shoes)!

Wide feet, high arches. Usually a 10W, sometimes a 9.5W. If I try to wear a closed shoe then I have bunion problems. So, mostly I live in flip flops, Birkenstocks... oh I can wear Birk clogs though. Ugly but comfy.

Fierce, have you tried Riekers yet?
I don't understand how people with regular feet can wear them.
They run really wide (which works for me.)

Agree with Debsi, who mentioned Clarks. I can usually find them pretty cheap at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

About Nordstrom's...they have a good shoe department, but I have not found them to have any more wide shoes than any other store at the Mall..especially not in size 11 anyway.
I still strongly suggest Zappos as your best bet.

Believe me, ladies, I have seen a lot more shoes for wide feet than for narrow ones like mine. I'm a 7 narrow and it's rare for a "regular" pair of shoes to fit comfortably. I have a HELL of a time. When I do come across athletic shoes that my feet don't swim in, I usually grab two pairs.
