I would never spend that kind of money on a watch. I actually own a beautiful Juicy Couture watch that I get compliments on all the time. It has diamond chips all around it and it's stainless steel. The face of it is beautiful. I paid 195.00 for it. I actually have two of them. The other is in Gold.
I bought one in December 1990 and still have it, rarely wear it. Today that identical watch is 3X the price I paid for it.
You raise an interesting point. Back in the early 00s I purchased my GMT (a second hand circa 1970 Pepsi) for just under 2k. Today I see them selling for 9k. Rolex is one of the few brands that actually goes up in value, where as most other brands halve in value as soon as they leave the retailer.
People still wear watches? I just look at the time on my phone. My husband has quite a few watches (none a Rolex) but they just sit in is drawer now. He also has not worn a watch in years.
I like wearing watches and see no reason to extend money to a Rolex industry. In fact my $1 watch tells the exact same time as a rolex. It serves its purpose.Done...and Done.
You paid a $1 for a watch when you could have used your phone?

If you are not wearing/enjoying your Rolex and there is approx. $7k or $8k profit to be made, why don't you sell it? It is not worth anything actually -- until you take that profit. When you go to meet your make, your beneficiaries will sell it.
No. Rolex look plain jane to me. When I was shopping for watches recently I bought a Michele and I love it. It's my everyday watch and looks great. However, I find that for my yoga pant days, the watch is much too fancy. I may purchase a Fitbit soon.

When I’m working my phone is in my pocket. Far easier to glance at my wrist as I am working, than stop, put down my stuff and wrestle into my pocket to pull out my phone.
That being said... we own and operate a Janitorial company. So when I work, my hands are probably damp or wet, and probably not very clean. I need to keep track of time, because if a task is supposed to take 5 minutes and the residents have trashed it up, I get to charge extra. Far easier to go open the door, think “cha-Ching!” , take a photo of the mess and then write down my time.
It would be wonderful to be able to leave my phone out while dealing with a mess, but residents steal and I get wrapped up what I am doing, so the phone stays in my pocket.

After I read your post yesterday I looked on their watch site and they have a beautiful selection for under 195, like you said. Some even 116.
All the watches I have are Movado or Gucci have no resale value So even if I spent 3k nobody wants to buy them from me (jewelers) even for rock bottom rate. They say they are "fashion watches w no resale value." One buys for brand only. I actually liked the design. One was a gift & others I bought. Next purchase will be a Juicy Couture. Thanks for the tip!
Why is it only Rolex has resale value? Must be others.
