A Rolex is a statement of wealth and the fact you want everybody to know you can afford one. Tacky.
I agree with you.

I've never been an expensive watch type guy. But I know they get a lot of looks regardless to most people. It reminds me of pricey handbags. Some don't care but for some they bring a lot of envy. The ones owning them swagger a bit when people ask about them. Same for the Rolex.
I don't care about and wouldn't notice any particular handbag, either.
No, I don't wear a watch anymore. I do own 2 nice watches--don't recall the brands as it's been awhile since I looked at them. One is more like a diamond tennis bracelet with a time piece attached in the middle. I don't even wear that one anymore.
I have one and I really like it (or I wouldn't have bought it).
I still think that the guys' watches are way cooler looking, but they never scale the look down for the ladies like the do with other watch brands like Tag, Omega, etc.
Ha, ha. I don't have an iPhone or a Fitbit but I do have some cheaper name brand items that no one would be impressed with
You do understand that people can own nice things without any intention of impressing other people with them, right?
Some people never quite grasp this concept.
I love them. I always said I would not buy a watch until I could afford a Rolex and I didn't. I don't really like the fancy ones, I prefer plain stainless.
I like wearing watches and see no reason to extend money to a Rolex industry. In fact my $1 watch tells the exact same time as a rolex. It serves its purpose.Done...and Done.
A loved one gave me a stainless and gold datejust Rolex watch 40 years ago as a gift and I love it for sentimental reasons. The watch only comes off my wrist to swim or be serviced.
