For both men and women? Of course every decade has some stinkers but I would challenge anyone that there never has been, nor will be a decade as horribly horrendous as the 80s. I am old enough that I can remember it and there was absolutely NOTHING redeemable about the 80s when it comes to fashion. I just don't see how it would be possible for a decade to encapsulate everything that could go wrong, does go wrong as the 80s. Hair, makeup, clothes, etc...all was as horrible as atrocious as such things can be.

Uhh...at the time, it wasn't that bad. Better than the "saggy pants" fad of the last few years, or the "I'm cool because I wear my pajamas out in public" fad that still goes on today....smh

There are far worse fashion atrocities before and after the 80s fashion.

I, too, think the 80's was about the worst but not completely. There were some fashions that I liked. The leggings that we still enjoy originated in the 80's. After too many years of boring earth tones and basics, I was ready for the bright colors. I still think a lot of the sweaters were pretty cool, even for the guys. Jewelry became bold and fun again. Pants could be wild but at least they didn't expose half the butt.

I didn't like most of the hairstyles, especially the frizzy tight perms, the "ripped look" in legwear, the overdone shoulder pads, and makeup was often weird. But all decades had their gross quirks in styles.

The New Romantic look (Duran Duran, Prince) was kinda cool and of course Michael Jackson was a trend setter with the high water pants and penny loafers.

Well I'm kind of divided on that issue.

On one hand, it was aesthetically downright ugly and it goes for most of the things worn in that era. Especially shoulder pads on oversized jackets worn by women. Imagine a 5ft woman wearing that. Also men's suits werer huge. But at least they didn't sweat nearly that much as the victims of today's men's fashion that looks 3 size smaller

On the other hand, 80's didn't have infection inducing piercings and tatoos. Or sagging pants. Or stupid thongs. Or pole dancing heels at workplace. Or...

Fashion is silly. If you're young, you're over 90% sure to become its victim. You'll probably also snap out of it at some point.

What in the hell about the 70s? The 80s were a step up at least.

I liked a lot of the fashions from the 80's.

Bermuda shorts for men (thank goodness we grew out of those horrible little shortie shorts for guys!) and the preppie look in general looked so . . . clean.

Slim fit jeans with heels was another good look, IMHO, especially after the ugly bell bottoms that had to completely cover your shoes. ???

I liked hair with body after a decade of straight as pins hair parted in the middle and not trimmed.

I liked the romantic Laura Ashley look on the ladies. Pretty should never go out of style.
