Cap sleeves look like they are for little girls and are sized accordingly - if you do any strength training AT ALL they'll be tight.
In general I love 3/4 sleeve except in the summer - then a short sleeve 1/2-way to elbow is fine...next would be a longer "short sleeve" to just above the elbow.
I will be so happy when these weird bells and cuffs and ribs on sleeves go away.
Me too! I hate clothes shopping right now. I feel like every time I find a sweater I like, it ends up having some horrible design at the end of the sleeves.

And don't even get me started on the cold shoulder stuff...
I live in the tropics, so have worn almost nothing but sleeveless for the last dozen years. We're moving to the mainland, and I'm looking forward to expanding my wardrobe choices.
Most exciting: Long sleeves! slim cotton knit, billowy gauze, crisp white cotton.
I also like 3/4 sleeves--they have a "roll up your sleeves and get to work" vibe.
Fluttery cap sleeves can be cute.
Short sleeves look matronly (they make the bustline look wider--that's fine for a kid, not so good for a mature woman.)
Like many women over 50 I don't care for the jiggle in my upper arm (I'm working on that) so I prefer elbow or 3/4 sleeves to work but I will wear camisoles or tanks otherwise being that I'm in Florida.
I wear tank tops year round with an exercise jacket during the cold months. I’m tall (5’10) & I have long arms, sleeve lengths drive me crazy because they are all just a little off.
They either bunch up in my armpit or in the crook of my elbow ... ugh.
