I have several, a couple of fairly expensive Euro-jobs which I also rarely wear. Most are stainless steel diver's watches, really good ones in stainless steel can be had new for $1,000 or less, some at $500 or less. And then there are cos. like Seiko etc. who sell some perfectly functional watches for between $100-$300.

You should, probably anyway, decide whether mechanical, automatic, quartz or solar movements would be better. I'm a automatic guy - I have one quartz watch and one solar watch.

Seiko is a nice brand to collect - mechanical and not, lots of styles, decent quality. Bought all online. I do have one fancy Swiss watch. Seikos can also be "modded" using different faces which can be very fun.

I also have a $30 fake that I used to wear sometimes. Got a lot of compliments on it from those who didn't know...

Great place to look (not sure on buying) in Dallas is deBoulle. Also I think Tourneau had a location in the Galleria.

Oris Aquis Date w/ black dial. You can get one from a grey market dealer for appx $1300-1400. I've had it for 5+ years and it's a great watch and I've gotten numerous compliments.

Thanks for the response guys. So far I have been sticking with Citizen - Eco drive. Been using for almost 10 years now. I thought I might look for something different just for a change. Got a cheap watch as a gift from Amazon for $12, but it looks cool and few of my coworkers were impressed though they didn't inquire the brand or price. lol That kept me thinking how much should I invest on a watch.

I have 4 watches, though I only really wear one anymore.

I have an old Seiko Kinetic Chrono that I've had for about 15 years that used to be my watch for everything, and it's nice enough, but it doesn't have any brand cachet if you're going to wear it with a suit and tie.

I have two Omegas, they are my watch of choice. I have an older Seamaster 300m watch with a blue face (same watch that Pierce Brosnan wore when he was James Bond) and is automatic. I rarely wear this one, usually only when dressed up.

My main watch is also an Omega, it's the special edition "Skyfall" 007 Planet Ocean watch from the movie. This watch originally was my "dress" watch but I liked it so much I decided to wear it full time, as it's built for some serious abuse and is rated to 600M diving. Automatic.

I've also got a Ball Engineer, don't remember which version. Probably the flashiest of them all due to the amount of detail, and the luminosity is from radioactive tritium gas tubes, which is far cooler than the luminova type of lume used by most watch companies. Automatic. Mainly a dress watch for me.

You'd be surprised how often you're judged by the quality of your watch when you reach executive level roles at work, and for me it's held true in a variety of industries.

LOL many of the better watches in question are made in Europe. Most of the best watches are made across little Swiss towns.
