I have what I would consider 3 actual winter jackets. Then I have 9 other jackets that I cab wear fall-spring.

I have a lot of jackets.

One big black clunker nicknamed "The Bell" (it is like wearing a giant black puffy padded bell). I don't find winter coats that work attractive so might as well wear this. When I sit in my car the whole thing bunches up and it is like being surrounded by a giant tent like heavy pillow. When you walk into stores you feel dowdy and cloddish. But it keeps you warm and that is the point.

This is an awesome description. Made me laugh out loud. There is no such thing as a functional winter coat that makes you look like a hottie by the way. If you are wearing one of those fitted tight faux leather jackets with a zipper, you are freezing.

I probably have 4 that I'd consider for below freezing, but all of those I still layer underneath with. I don't use them that often in Dallas, but I travel a lot for work and pleasure both so I keep them around for those trips too.

I have a regular daily coat, a heavy down parka for really cold days, and a dressier wool coat.

About 10 winter coats, a lot of heavier jackets, tons of lighter weight jackets (I like diff. colors, lengths, material, etc.) - my long down coat I've had for over 30 yrs.

One. But if I had more space, I wouldn't mind two or three.

Lots, not sure of the actual number. Some for style reasons, but mostly different weights/degrees of warmth depending on need. What I need to wear to go back and forth from the parking lot to my office is different than what I need if I'm going to be outdoors in cold weather going for a short walk around the block vs. a longer hike vs. being outside to shovel snow vs going to an outdoor shopping center. So it's not really about matching the style to the occasion, it's about matching the functionality to the occasion. Since I've always lived in places that get real winters, I've had lots of time to accumulate many coats and jackets over the years, and unless they get torn or stained or otherwise worn out, I don't usually get rid of them even when I find something new that I want to get.
