Never. People I know can't afford luxury labels, and might not buy them even if they could afford them.

I asked my husband to buy me my favorite perfume for Christmas, and that that was all I wanted. I also told him that Macy's had Travel sizes, that I would be perfectly happy with.

So he bought me a full size bottle of Black Opium. I love it.

I think I'd call it a premium gift??

My husband gave me a Fendi wallet for Christmas. I love it. I'd rather one nice thing that I will use forever than a bunch of crap.

He usually buys me shoes or a purse for my birthday and at Christmas. Other than that, I do not really shop very often.

I think the closest thing that I ever had to a premium or luxury clothing item as a gift would have been the hand me down pair of silver tab jeans that I got from my cousins husband when I was in 5th grade.

This. It's not.

Armani, Chanel, Gucci etc. high range/premium/luxury.

And yes, I do receive them as gifts or buy them myself.

I agree - there are certain luxury labels where you get what you pay for. My now-ex bought me a pair each of Gucci and Versace sunglasses about 20 years ago, and they are still going strong. My Dior pumps are about 15 years old, still wearing them. The beauty of luxury items is that the materials are durable, the styling is typically classic and the workmanship is impeccable.

My LV monogram bucket bag lasted me for over a decade until the leather on the bottom wore down. I still have the bag because I couldn't part with it. The used price on this bag is $400-600, so maybe I'll try my luck on eBay.

I'd rather have a small wardrobe of stylish, high quality pieces that stand the test of time than closets full of TJ Maxx and Target clothes.
