How many divers would actually use their Rolex for that purpose? Technically speaking a Rolex watch is overpriced jewelry.

I have a Timex Indiglo with 12/24 hour dial, and day/date. It is water resistant to 30M. The Indiglo face performs well at night as a flashlight. If my memory doesn't fail me, it is over 10 years old.
In 1966, I bought a Seiko Sportsmatic 5 in the Exchange at the 25th Div. Base Camp at Cu Chi, RVN. Several years later, it died. I replaced it with a Timex.
I wear my watch 24/7/365, except when I take a bath or do dishes.
I have never had any desire for a Rolex, just as I have never had a real desire for a Rolls Royce. They are impressive well built finely crafted machines, but I have no need for either of them.
I will put a new battery in the Timex, keep my vehicles (Chevy, ford, and Chrysler, 2006 and older), and spend my disposable income (if any) on Yaesu Ham Radio gear! For what a Rolex would cost, I can buy the top of the line Yaesu legal power limit, all mode, all frequency transceiver. THAT I could make use of!

Any watch can tell time. Luxury watches are only a symbol for status. I have grown out of that phase and now want the lease amount of items attached to me to overthrow my mind from things that matter. I am more about helping others with the extra money I have or give in charity as there are so many people in this world that need it more than me. I cannot imagine myself wearing something expensive when some people in the world are dying from hunger.

Don't get me wrong. I will be quality jackets, shoes and clothes but will not toss my money towards a watch for the exact same reasons listed above.

I wouldn't pay thousands of dollars for no watch personally. Some feel the need to possess one as a status kinda thing. To each his own though I reckon.

This is my suggestion for the woman that wants a Submariner... a Tudor Mini-Sub.

Made by Rolex, but considerably smaller.

Iíve never been one for fancy watches. My main ones I wear are a Fitbit and Citizen EcoDrive. I won a Maurice Lacroix Phase de Lune but have only worn it twice. I should dig it out and sell it.

Tudor also had blue Subs that are all stainless, unlike the two-tone Rolexes, which are too flashy for my tastes.
