No and nope.
People do tell me I look 10 years younger. I think probably I do because people seem genuinely shocked when I tell them. But my neck (which had radiation) is really starting to age me. The radiated side looks worse.

I had a male client ask me this (I'm a freelance writer). He was trying to shmooze his way into a lower price (or was just ill-mannered and kinda creepy).

I simply said, "If you want your age incorporated into this article in some way, I'll need the precise information."

Definitely not playing that game in either my professional or personal life. I couldn't care less about how old people are unless I want to be romantically involved (which I certainly didn't!).

I get that question all the time. Lots of older customers where I work, most of those asking are generally pretty spry people in their late seventies and eighties and they do usually look 10-20 years younger. I just assume they're bragging a little about how well they are doing for their age. If it makes them happy more power to them, no skin off my nose.

It's been a very long time since anyone has asked me to play that game.

"How old do you think I am?"

"Based on your looks, or on how you sound asking that question?"

I live in an area where the majority of the population is in their 50s to 80s. No one ever asks me that question, and I don't ask anyone else that. Pretty much everyone I know or come in contact is upfront about their age. Some look great and really healthy for whatever age they are (I believe I am in that category) and some don't care, don't take care of themselves and they look rough and have physical problems.

If someone were to ask me that I would just say that I am a bad guesser of ages and just let them tell me what age they are and act "surprised." What harm does it do to make someone feel good, anyway? It could make someone's whole day.

No and nope.

I got a friend request from a friend of a friend a couple of months ago. I was leery of accepting the request, but spent a couple of days exchanging messages. At one point, I mentioned something about grandkids. This guy says "you have grandkids?" and I explained they were my stepson's kids. He said "you don't look old enough to have grandkids." I just said "Yeah...so I've been told." and left it at that.

Last time I got carded, it was to buy cigarettes. Legal age in Missouri is 18. I was 40.

Some workers are weird, and just check everyone's ID, or do it for random reasons. I got carded a few months ago when seeing an R rated movie. I do not look like I'm 16.
