Just yesterday I had a male customer ask me how old I thought he was. Last December I had another male ask me to guess his age. Both looked good for their age and a bit younger. But I hate this question with a passion. And I hate it in general when people like to throw out their age without me asking. So tired of trying to ego stroke people and their insecurities.

I always guess really high and watch their reaction.

The only time a man has asked me to guess his name was a checker at Walmart.

I was buying wine, and he wanted ID, he said they have to card anyone who might be under 40.

I said look at me. On a great day, I could possibly pass for under 40 but NEVER under 21. Never.

He said look at me. How old do you think I am.

I said 35.

He said 17.

I said here's my ID.

No one asks me that. I just hate guessing someone's age because I'm always off by 10 years, older and younger. I once guessed my cousin was 28 when she was 36, and I was about to say 25. She didn't look young either; I'm just terrible at guessing someone's age.

I refuse to play such games. If they want me to know how old they are, they can tell me. Otherwise, I don't care enough to guess. The only time I cared about someone's age was when I was selling them alcohol. But even then, I just wanted to see their Id. I wouldn't engage in guessing games.

"Well, I don't think you are as old as you look."

I always hate when stores assign a random age to ID. One of the local grocery stores has a sign saying "Anyone under 30 must show ID." I still get carded every time, but always want to say "I'm over 30... According to your sign I don't have to show my ID..." Of course they'll just respond that they dont have to sell me alcohol, making their sign completly pointless since they can ask anyone to show ID regardless of age.

I already know I'm getting carded whenever I buy alcohol, so for stores to claim they'll only card people of a certain age is goofy.

I love people who say "people always tell me I look 20 years younger than my real age!" Or "I could pass for______!"

No and nope.

In all fairness, I have a niece who is 35 and does speech therapy in middle schools. She serves several schools. She's constantly asked for her hall pass, or told students aren't allowed in the teacher's lounge.

Hilarious. Her husband is her age, and they're constantly mistaken for being father and daughter.
