I have seen past threads in these forums, and many users don't consider Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, or IZOD to be preppy brands. I wonder why? While they are somewhat less popular among the preppy crowd than Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, or Vineyard Vines, their styles are somewhat similar. I previously asked whether or not Tommy Hilfiger is a preppy brand, and most responses were no.

Tommy Hilfiger mostly is in the Classic Preppy category as far as style goes.

Nautica is in the Nautical Preppy category.

IZOD spans multiple preppy categories, from Classic (Premium Essentials), Nautical (Saltwater Collection), and Performance (Advantage and Golf).

So why aren't these brands considered preppy?

Most consider Lacoste to be a preppy brand, but not the modern IZOD.

Izod was never preppy. Hilfiger and Nautica are still preppy is guess, they just long ago fell out of style. I haven't worn either since I was a kid but still own Ralph Lauren. Vineyard Vines is popular with the younger people these days, but I just cant get over the goofy looking pink, cartoon whale logo, lol.

Tommy Hilfiger is coming back in style and is currently PVH's best performing brand.

Best performing brand does not mean designer or "preppy" tho...it is just brand recognition cause it's been around forever & is often sold at discount stores

Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Izod are largely considered outdated compared to brands like Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Banana Republic, and Calvin Klein.

They have outlived their welcome. Boring, no pizzazz. New white t-shirt on a somewhat handsome man versus a pink sale thing.
