I'm 66 and look younger than that- at least according to family and friends. For instance, I have no gray hair and still my natural color (thanks mom and dad...yes mom is still here at 91 yrs old)

I always had nice skin and always had compliments from others- even strangers. At the time all I did was wash with soap and water and occasionally used a generic moisturizer.

But lately-as I get older- my skin is feeling rougher and drier. I am starting to notice a few faint lines on my cheeks and around my mouth.

Anyone have any ideas for skin care products?

We actually shop in a very large "health food" co-op for most of our needs and food, so organic products would be preferred. I was thinking I need to exfoliate more often with either a scrub or use an "acid", or both. Then moisturize.

Any suggestions? (we eat organic and try to use as little non-organic products as possible for health reasons)

Thanks.

Find a moisturizer or serum with hyaluronic acid.

I’m loving ArtNaturals 2.5% retinol serum. It just adds a little moisture that I need under my moisturizer. Should be at your store.

I would steer away from soap, which can be too harsh, even if it is superfatted and use a cleanser that’s gentle. I can’t suggest anything natural, as I use CeraVe. I do know that some of the health food places out here do samples of products, I’d try a few instead of buying lots of stuff to try.

I am wary of scrubs as exfoliation. They can be way too harsh, and used way too harshly. That’s why I like the retinols. I use a soft washcloth and non alcoholic witch hazel on a cotton pad. Thayer’s makes a good non alcohol witch hazel with scents that are pleasant.

Retinol supposedly works.

I just use Age Perfect by L'Oreal, day and night cream for my dry skin.

Has hylauronic in it, also C and E. Not oil based. 13 dollars.

Don't fear oils (like I used to). There are many that are very beneficial to facial skin!

In fact OP, you might want to consider a good facial oil instead of a night cream. Rosehip, jojoba, etc. I use a nice blend that I get on Amazon (and it's organic!). It smells wonderful and definitely hydrates my skin!

Thanks everyone. Found a set of serums that are used on alternate days: retinol, other bottle is Vit C, and then hyaluronic.

I use prescription Tretinoin (retinol) and a good moisturizer with hyaluronic acid. I actually found a large pump jar of it in a nice oil free carrier for just a few dollars at TJMaxx. It simply says Hyaluronic Acid on the face of the jar. Make sure your face is damp when you put the moisturizer on.

Like others said also, steer away from soap.
Unlike another I do use an exfoliating scrubby cloth lightly on my face. I can feel the smooth difference immediately.

I've been experimenting lately with a combination castor oil and coconut oil also (have to thin it with the coconut oil or you can't smooth it on) because of the benefits. Recently saw a woman 86 yrs old and her skin was fantastic. She said she has always used castor oil on it so I started researching it. It promotes growth of healthy skin tissue.

Once I started layering more things, my skin’s dryness subsided. I use a gentle cleanser (oil based are nice), a moisturizing toner, an essence, serum and moisturizer. And SPF. It sounds like a lot but does the trick. I use each layer as a treatment too. Toner can be an exfoliating acid. Gentle PHA moisturizer for mild exfoliating.

Retin A or the generic, does absolute wonders, wouldn't live without it.
